NEW SCHOOL YEAR PARTY!
6p-8p at The Solomon Center

We are having a party tonight!

  • Free food
  • Inflatables
  • Games
  • Getting pumped for the new school year!

All students grades 6-12 are invited to the New School Year Party.
We'll have fun hanging out together and also share talk a bit about what to expect at City Youth Group this year.

QUICK HITTERS

Let's take a trip around the bases.

#1 - UPCOMING YOUTH GROUP EVENTS

  • August 23 - SMALL GROUPS RETURN
We resume "school year programming" on Wednesday nights which include separate large group and small group gatherings for middle and high school students. We'll meet from 6-8 all school year long, doors open at 5:45.

#2 - WHAT MAKES OUR YOUTH GROUP DIFFERENT?
Answer: Small group leaders!
We have dozens of people who volunteer their time each week as small group leaders for middle and high school students. These people are GAME CHANGERS!

Would you like to be a game changer? Want to know more about what it takes to lead a small group? Email Ben- ben.patterson@southeastcc.org and ask.

#3 - KING SOOPERS REWARD PROGRAM
This is a no-brainer! Don't believe us? Let us elaborate:

1. Use this gift card to pay for groceries at King Soopers and YOUR FAMILY receives a 5% credit from each shopping purchase towards a youth group sponsored event.

Example: You use this gift card to spend $100 on groceries at King Soopers. Our team is notified of this purchase and applies $5 to YOUR FAMILY'S ACCOUNT. This credit be used to pay for Winter Retreat, Summer Camp, or any other City Youth Group sponsored event.

2. You can have more than one King Soopers Gift Card working for your family. Get a gift card for mom, dad, grandpa, grandma, and the neighbor next door. All their purchases go toward your account.

Example: Ben and Liz each have their own gift card to King Soopers purchased from City Youth Group. They add money to the gift card at checkout before paying for groceries and/or gasoline. One month, Ben spent $800 on groceries/gas, and Liz spent $200 on groceries/gas. Since they were proactive in reloading their gift cards to make these purchases, THEY WERE GIVEN $50 to be used for payment towards City Youth Group sponsored events like Winter Retreat or Summer Camp.

We are thrilled about this opportunity and excited for you to take experience the benefits. Gift cards can be purchased (for face value, so not really a purchase) for $5 at youth group events on Wednesday nights or weekend services. Sill have questions? Click here for more info.

Just Let It Go: Picking Your Battles With Teenagers

One of my daughters walked into the kitchen to find something to eat.

"I bought some of those rolls you like for your sandwiches." I offered.

"Why would I want a sugary roll for my sandwich?"

This is how many conversations can begin with my teenagers. They aren't defiant; they probably couldn't even be classified as back talking. They're just...argumentative. Read the whole post.
