Breathing Room (Margin)

Introduction: Mark 1:35-36; 6:30-31; Matthew 11:28-30

In the hustle and bustle of life sometimes we just need space to take a breath. Just a little time to focus on what is important and what is a distraction. We call this “breathing room.”

Review it:

Stuff Phil said:

“If you live without healthy amounts of margin and balance it can cost you deeply.”

“some people would say, ‘living with margin and balance is for people who can’t get things done.’ We just want to get things done.”

“Hurry and love oppose each other.”

“Love and hurry are fundamentally incompatible. Love always takes time, and time is one thing hurried people don’t have.”

Open it:

Why are you in such a hurry? Do you have a voice in your head that worries about the things you have to get done?

Are you afraid to slow down or stop? Why? What do you believe would happen if you slowed down or stopped?

Explore it:

How often do you find yourself irritated at others who are taking to long?

Do you find yourself listening to someone talking and wanting to do something productive?

Get it:

How do you think business kills relationships?

What is more important to you?

Apply it:

How can you find rest during your day?
