Introduction: John 13:3-7,12-17
The book of John is both the easiest and hardest book of the Bible to read. The author speaks plainly, yet pointedly. As we journey through this study say this simple prayer: God speak to me, because I am listening.
Stuff Phil said:
“ It seems like we don’t have any idea, anymore, of what is real and what is fake.”
“We live in a photo shopped world.”
“It [our superficial world] leaves us with an intense desire to connect with something authentic.”
“When I read the words of Jesus it is truth.”
“In a fake superficial world…if we play by the rules we will become entitled and lose our souls.”
“The path to everything that is real is serving.”
Have you ever known someone who had an entitled attitude? Why did this bother you?
What are your thoughts on the quote, “In a fake superficial world…if we play by the rules we will become entitled and lose our souls.”
Read John 13:3-7. What do you think the disciples were feeling as Jesus served them?
Has anyone ever served you and it made you feel uncomfortable? Looking back, has anyone ever served you, and because of those actions you made it through a tough time?
Tell us how that changed your life.
How does serving someone change your life?
Why do you think serving is so important?
This week ask God where you can serve.
