The Winter Shelter Network is a network of churches serving the homeless in Douglas County by providing rest, meals and connection during the winter months. The Winter Shelter Network serves women and children who are in need of temporary shelter during the winter months.
Southeast is honored to be a part of the Winter Shelter Network and will be a host site every Sunday night and Monday during the day from November through March. As a host church, we have the privilege of providing a warm dinner, a safe place to sleep, food to pack lunches for the next day and a simple breakfast before they head out for the day. In addition to meals and a place to sleep, we have the opportunity to love like Jesus and create space for connection and relationship.
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter - when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? ISAIAH 58:7
WE NEED YOU! In order to provide these services for these deserving women and children, we need over 100 volunteers each month. We encourage families, small groups and individuals to serve with this ministry.
Each week we need a team of people for many different roles: meals, evening and overnight hosts, a laundry and supply team, and set-up and clean-up crews. You can volunteer once, once a month or every week.
Currently we have a need for overnight volunteers and people to help on Mondays between 7am -4pm. For more information, contact Cara Gabrielse at
To keep the shelter running smoothly, we also need a variety of items. Click below to receive our needs list! You can drop your donations off in the blue bins labeled, "Winter Shelter Network" across from the coffee shop near the Missions Wall in the church lobby.
