That You May Know Hope: Part 4 (Luke 2:1-21)

Welcome

Welcome to Christmas at Southeast Christian Church. We are so glad you chose to join us! If this is your first time to worship with us, here is what you can expect.

In Each Service

Worship: You’ll get to be a part of some truly inspired worship. Most people will stand during the songs, but you are welcome to be seated if you prefer. We will display the words on the screens so you can follow along if some of the songs are new to you.

Gifts & Offerings: Offering bags will be passed after Communion. Those who call Southeast home place their financial gifts and offerings in these bags as a way of expressing gratefulness to God for His blessings. As our guest, please don’t feel obligated to give anything.

Communion or the Lord’s Supper: Bread and juice will be distributed in trays by our Guest Services team. We each eat and drink on our own after a quiet moment of reflection and prayer.

Our Hope

Our hope is that you would open your heart to God over these next few moments. May He speak to you through this worship experience. Thank you for joining us today!

Luke 2:8-11

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them,
“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

Thank you for joining us to celebrate the birth of Jesus. As we look toward the coming year our hope is that each of us can live out these words spoken years ago by Howard Thurman:

When the song of the angels is stilled,
when the star in the sky is gone,
when the kings and the princes are home,
when the shepherds are back with their flocks,
the work of Christmas begins:
to find the lost,
to heal the broken,
to feed the hungry,
to release the prisoner,
to rebuild the nations,
to bring peace among the people,
to make music in the heart.
