Choir Core Values
Worship - Worship is essential to our ministry; it is the very reason why we gather. Musical worship aligns our focus on our Savior and rids us from the distractions the world has to offer. Without Jesus as the center of our attention, we lack purpose and direction.
Word - The Word of God is the book of Truth on which we base our faith and our lives. We believe that all Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. During each rehearsal we spend time in small groups studying God’s Word together.
Prayer - Prayer is another way we can strengthen and deepen our relationship with Christ. We come together to talk to our Heavenly Father and listen for His response. Through intentional prayer, we become more like Jesus, as this was an essential part of His ministry and life on earth. Prayer is always a priority in choir, and we consistently set aside time each rehearsal to talk to the Lord.
Service - Service is a way for us to put our faith into action. We sing together on Wednesday nights but we also take time about once a month to help lead worship in all the weekend services at Southeast. In our small groups, we often serve alongside existing organizations simply as a response to Jesus calling us to love our neighbor.
Community - As followers of Christ, we are called to live in community with other believers. Everyone who consistently attends choir is placed into a small group where we pray together, read God’s Word, serve the community, and encourage one another throughout the week. Any choir can sing, but we desire to worship Jesus from hearts that reflect authentic, growing relationships with Christ and with each other.
