Galatians

MONDAYS | SEP 12 - NOV 7 | MEETING ROOM A
MORNING 9:30 – 11:30 AM
EVENING 6:30 – 8:30 PM
What does it mean to be free in Christ? How do I live out my faith? What does it mean to be under grace and not the Law? Does the Torah still apply? These questions were asked by both Jewish and Gentile believers in Paul's day and are still asked today. Join us for an in-depth look at Paul's answers in his letter to the Galatians and how they apply to our modern day culture. He will define the Christian's relationship to Law and grace, and urge us to live in the freedom of Christ by being led by the Spirit.

Sermon on the Mount

MONDAYS | 6 – 7:30 PM | ROOM 251
Instructor: Josh McBride
Cost: $20 for books and supplies

PART 1: SEP 26 - OCT 24
The Sermon on the Mount has often been regarded as the high point of Jesus’ teaching to his disciples, but there are parts that are difficult to understand. Is Jesus being serious when he commands his followers to gouge out their eye, or to pray for those who persecute them, or when he says "blessed are the meek"? This class will carefully examine Matthew 5:1-48, the Sermon on the Mount, and Jesus' expectations of his followers.

PART 2: OCT 31 – NOV 28
The Sermon on the Mount has often been regarded as the high point of Jesus’ teaching to his disciples, but there are parts that are difficult to understand. What should we make of Jesus’ commandments on alms, treasure, and our eyes? What about fasting and praying? This class will encourage us to wrestle with Jesus’ teachings in the second half of the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 6:1-7:29, and discuss how we can apply his teachings to our modern context.
